Every year the Edgetone New Music Summit showcases some of the most innovative and pioneering new music that is happening in California and beyond.Wynn Yamami swings into action at the 2007 Edgetone New Music Summit, photo by Peterbkaars.com The Festivals’ expanded performance schedule includes music and sound from raging free improvisation, electronic manipulation, to harsh noise reflecting an incredible range of genre busting exploration and sonic creativity. In addition, the festival seeks to promote intermedia arts, fostering cross-pollination between music/sound art and experimental flim/ visual arts.

Previewing the Edgetone Music Summit in 2005, jounalist Alex Fong of the S. F. Bay Guardian said, “a number of Bay Area groups are breaking the rules of contemporary soundtracks by making music that's as evocative as the visuals. “

The Edgetone Summit brings truly independent and ground breaking performance to the Bay Area on four nights featured at venues throughout the East Bay and San Francisco regions.
Our Goal: To bring highly innovative music and art to the increasing number of people seeking a real "alternative".

Over the last seven years the Summit has featured over 300 wild groups from around the United States as well as Europe, Australia, and Japan including exclusive first time debut performances by artists who have never played in California or San Francisco.
In 2005 the Summit drew over 1,000 attendees including The Illuminated Corridor night incorporating film and sound into one of the most highly successful events of the Summit with an estimated attendance of over 650 attendees performing both outdoors and indoors at the Oakland Metro Theater in Oakland. Each year the Summit has brought a wide array of genre bending performances. Each night a special thematic experience.
The Summit continues in 2008 July 23-27 @ The SF Community Music Center and a special closing public performance on July 27th at the Musicians Union Hall in San Francisco.

If you're serious about reaching independent minded audiences, we invite you to be seen at one of the Bay Area’s most exceptional independent sound arts events.
